How to connect to a system in LAN in VB ?

I want to send a message to a system connected in LAN through VB....How is it possible ?

Do you assume that the application you are writing is going to be running on the other machine as well? Or that another application written by you is waiting for the message on the other machine?
In both cases a good approach is to use the WinSock.ocx custom control (which comes with Visual Basic) and to establish a TCP or UDP connection.
