Hello experts,

I have drawn points on a topo map in arcview 3.1.  Then I converted those points into a shapefile. I have a table associated with the shapes.  The fields are ID LocX and LocY.  I want get x and y coordinates for the LocX and LocY fields, how do I do that?

Eventually, I want to use Arc to extract the elevation as well, how is that different from getting the x-y's?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Try this ArcView extension.

Put the file in your C:\ESRI\AV_GIS30\ARCVIEW\EXT32 folder.  Turn the extension on in your project, make the aparticular layer active.  Go to your THEME pull down menu and choose ADDXY at the bottom.  It should automatically put the coordinate values in your dbf file.  Just make sure your map units are set correctly in your view properties.

Hope this helps.
