Hi,

MRTG gathers it's information from the router every 5 minutes, this data is held in a file called <target_name>.log, this would have the same name as the HTML file that MRTG creates.

As MRTG gets a snapshot of the current activity, if you have lost the .log file, MRTG will start again, or you can restore the log file.

If you restore the log file, then you will get a period of constant utilisation (according to mrtg) as no data would have been collected between the backup time and the restored time.

Hope this helps

G'day, samuellam
like helpquick noted, there is a .log file in the workdirectory. It's a simple text file that you can edit to provide whatever you want for previous traffic by following the same syntax as the rest of the lines.

Cheers!
