"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Pagemaker 7?  If so, you can open a Quark file without any problems.
Publication Converter (in PM) sounds like an option.
Here is another.

you can convert PageMaker files to QuarkXPress using an XTension called PM2Q. This third party XTension will allow you to convert PageMaker files into QuarkXPress. One place to obtain a PM2Q converter would be at Markzware. For more information about PM2Q, go to:

PageMaker 6.0 (Mac and Windows) and above includes a separate program titled "QuarkXPress Converter" to translate QuarkXPress to PageMaker. It supports Quark 3.0 and higher. It isn't cross platform. It can only go from Quark Windows to PageMaker Windows and Quark Mac to PageMaker Mac. Contact Adobe Systems Incorporated for information on obtaining and using this program.

If you are using PageMaker 6.5 (for Mac or Windows) there is an update to QuarkXPress Converter version 3.0. This update is available from Adobe's Free Plug-ins & Updates section on their web site (www.adobe.com).

You still haven't told us which version of PM.  Did you try the link I posted?

I have pagemaker 7.0 but I don't have quark on my computer running. I would need a copy of quark to use the xtension called PM2Q.

I don't know exactly why, but it works on another computer. Maybe my pagemaker 7 is corrupt. I tried reinstalling, but I couldn't uninstall pagemaker. It said the uninstall file is corrupt. Anyone have idea on how to fix that problem
