How to make a private folder
Hi all,
Is there any way to set password to open a folder or a similar way? Let's consider this scenario: I left my computer and go out, but do not turn off it or lock it. Then someone can easily uses it, and of course open some private folders.
In this case, I need a tool to set a somthing similar to password to open those folders.
Anyone has any idea? any help will be appreciated very much.

Windows key & L, lock the workstation !
Or:
Set the security on the folders to allow you access only, then log out.
Standard security procedures should require each user to have their own login, sharing logins is not a good idea, if they go browsing pron who gets the blame, and possibly the sack ?

If I choose methods such as: lock, log off, or auto log off when being away,... then it's much easier. But, let's say you and your brother share one computer, one account the. If you do not want him to see your works, then only CrazyOne idea is suitable.
Btw, I choose magic folder software. That one is quite nice.
Once again, thanks u very much for your helps.

1. Make sure your password could not be easily guessed. Use Uppercase and lowercase, Numbers, and symbols.
2. Set your screen saver to start within 5 minutes and make sure the "on resume password protect" checkbox is checked
3. Disable any local accounts on the computer which are not in use. Right-click My Computer, Manage, Expand Local Users and Groups.
4. Make sure you are not sharing your private folders. You will see a hand icon on the folder itself.
5. On the Folder, right-click and select Sharing and Security. Click the Security tab and click the Advanced button. Uncheck "Inherit from parent the permissions that apply to child object..." and click OK
6. You should now be on the Security tab. Make sure only your username is listed with Full Control checked. Depending if your computer is part of a domain or not. You can add the following account and Deny permission
If computer is NOT part of a domain
COMPUTER\Users -> Where COMPUTER is your computer name
If computer IS part of a domain
DOMAIN\Domain Users -> Where DOMAIN is your domain name
7. If you want an extra layer of security, you can encrypt the contents in your folder but I do not recommend this. If you encrypt your folder, you will not notice any difference when you open your files; however, if someone else were to try and open the file they would not be able to. If you wanted to share an ecrypted file, you would first have to un-encrypt. To encrypt your folder, right-click the folder and select Properties. Click the Advanced button. Check the "Encrypt contents to secure data" and click OK.
Hope this helps.
