Nortons Auto-protect block network

I have finally tracked the source of my tcp-ip home network problem to Nortons Anti-Virus autoprotect...

It blocks access to all network files... If I turn it off the network

I'm still waiting for a response from Symantec has anyone seen this before or know of a fix apart from turning it off?

thanks

I am curious as to how you tracked it to Nortons. I use nortons on my network with several different operating systems with no problem.

Try disabling NTFS 8.3 name creation and see what happens.

I did this after using a tuning utility - Tweak-Xp, it was a "hard drive optimisation" option. I have learned my lesson... If it ain't broke dont fix it!

Now that I have reversed the setting in the registry, Nortons and my network get along just fine....
