Canon bjc-1000 Memory Reset

I got the "waste ink tank full" message. I replace the "tank" which is just a felt pad. Now I need to reset the memory. The Canon people said 'go to a service center', but the cost is more than the printer value. I have a good understanding of electronics, and I'm sure the reset procedure is fairly simple. I did not find this in the 'answered questions', so I would rate this a hard question. Thanks for your help.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.
