VPN and external email access

We have our email hosted externally at a local ISP. Some of our users have high speed internet and can VPN into our LAN just fine.

Because our email is hosted "outside" our LAN, they dont need to connect to get their email. However when they are connected to the VPN they cannot get theire email externally. In other words they dont get routed out through the Proxy to the external email server.

Any ideas as to how I can get them to be able to that while conencted via the VPN ?

Configure the vpn clients NOT to use the default gateway on the remote network. There is a tickbox for this within the vpn connection properties in the tcp/ip settings.
