Restore Exchange 5.5 Data without NT Domain Accounts (SAM)

Hi There,

We have a single server domain that also runs Exchange 5.5. The server would not boot and my collegues have reformatted the system partition and reinstalled NT4 SP6, I have the physical exchange store and directory MDB's that were luckly on other partitions but have not got any NT Domain user account information to restore!! Is there any hope of getting my exchange data back?

I have tried reinstalling NT and exchange with identical domain, site, server and organisation names but I cannot get exchange to load when I copy back the origenal dir.mdb and priv.mdb, it says I don not have permission to access the exchange server.

Please help,

Hi,

I run "eseutil /p /ispriv" command for my 15 GB priv.edb. It took over 4 hours and terminated with error message "Operation terminated with error -1017 (JET_errRecordDeleted, Record has been deleted)". Is this normal?
