Foxpro 2.6 Too Many Files Open error

I have an application in Foxpro 2.6 that runs fine in Win 95/98, but in 2000 or XP gives me the Too Many Files Open error.  I have gradually increased the files parameter in CONFIG.NT all the way to 1024, but still get the error.  Also added FCBS=255, still does not work.

I'm out of options, spent most of the day trying different things.  I'd be grateful if somebody has a silver bullet for this one.

thanks

Well I suspect you already looked at this

Other than that you migh have to upgrade Foxpro to use 32bit

I just wanna bang my head on my desk.  Sometimes it's the easiest things, isn't it?   I just stubbornly kept starting foxpro directly from its shortcut rather than opening a COMMAND session first, then loading the executable.  Reading the instructions on your link led me to try it.

Thanks, Oh CrazyOne!!
