Maximum Profile Size using System Policies

Hi All,

Got a Windows NT 4.0 Domain and hundreds of Workstations (all SP6a).

Using System Policies to restrict Roaming Profile Size.

In the system policy, I can only select a maximum profile size of 30000Kb (30Mb).

If I change the value in the ADM, it just changes from 30000 to -100 when I roll the counter.
If I set a fixed default value, it doesn't display it.

Now I know that more than 30 Mb roaming profiles are pretty exceptional, but then it is only for a few exceptional users.

I do not want to know how to redirect Documents, or Temporary Internet Files, just how to raise the limit

Thanks in advance,

I think you're out of luck with that.

The only thing I would suggest - and I know you don't want to do it...but, relocate the My Documents folder to the user's personal network drive.

It has benefits - like reducing your profile size and providing centralized backup of user's files.

Roaming profiles that large are not a good idea - everytime a user logs into a new PC it pulls down the profile locally.  If enough users do this you'll be out of local disk space in no time.

Just my opinion.

Solved the problem....

Edit the Winnt.ADM, and set the minimum, default and maximum values the the value that is required.

Open poledit. Set the limit check box, but don't edit the value.

(p.s. Poledit has a bug whereby it doesn't allow the user to type a value of more than 9999.

Nice work!  Didn't know you could do that manually.

Thanks for the update.
