I have an Intranet @ work, and when user try to access it by domain name or IP they get prompt for user id, password and domain.  When I check the even logs on NT 4.0, it say IUSR_SERVER unknown user name or bad password. Under ISS properties, everyone is granted access!!!. In the past this would not happen!!  Also out of 100 users, maybe 20 users get that prompt, the rest access the main page without a prompt.  My IIS is running on NT 4.0 service pack 6a and the version of IIS is 2.0. Under IIS properties I have IUSR_SERVER as allow anonymous and I reset the password, Basic (clear text) is unchecked, Windows NT challenge/response is checked.  All users in my company are part of Domain users and the they have access to C:\inet pub\wwwroot\sbin<HOME>. Do I upgrade ISS to a higher version, if so how?

Please help,

Well, I can't say that simply installing a newer version of IIS will fix your problem, the link to the IIS 4 download is here:

You're saying this suddenly started happening or was something installed.  Make sure the IUSR_SERVERNAME is still in the user manager.  This computer is not the domain controller, is it?
