It's been a while since I don't do any java... So may be this is a dumb question: Is there a system call (like "system()" in "C") in Java?

Thanks

You can execute external programs, use Runtime.getRuntime.exec(..);

You can access some "system" calls from System class. see java api System class
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/docs/api/java/lang/System.html

or the whole api at http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/docs/api/ (classes on left)

What are you trying to do?

Well, actually it wasn't for me, but for a friend here in my work, so I don't know precisely what she is doing.

Thank you!
