Unable find my mail/addresses/preferences after downloading new version Outlook Express

Hi !

I am new to Mac. I downloaded new version of OE 5.0.6 and copied to my HD as per instructions.

My previous version was 5.0.2.

When I opened OE it appeared the new version screen without all my previous mail saved in the older version+address book and preferences and mail saved in different folders.

How can I get back my mail. Hope is not lost !

If memory serves me right, OE creates a folder for each identity where it stores all such info. You should find it inside a folder called "Microsoft User Data". Do a search for "Microsoft User Data" and see if you have more than one. If you do, then one will be for your older version of OE. Move the identity folder from it into the new one and you should be back in business. Note that that may erase any saved data in the newer one so you should make a copy of it first, just to be safe. If you only have one Microsoft User Data folder, then look to see if it has two identity folders in it. I doubt that it will, however, because if it did, you would get a message asking which identity it should use each time you launch OE.
