Can't print from Win98 on win2k network

Hi

I am hoping somebody can help me. I am trying to print from a Win98 machine over a Win2k network. The printer is installed on the server (Small Business Server 2000) and everyone with Win2k or winXP can print quite happily, except for the one guy on Win98.

I have tried installing theprinter drivers on the server but they get rejected. I then went and installed the drivers locally on the 98 machine. this let me install the printer on it but it still won't print.

According to the 98 machine the printer has been installed on one of the other win2k machines, not the server so naturally it gets print errors trying to print to a computer with no printer attached.

the printer is a Lanier 5020.

Anyone have any thoughts?

You will need to install the Win98 drivers on the server. To do that go to printer Properties (on the server); click on the Sharing tab and on Additional Drivers. Select Win 98 and browse to the location of the Win 98 drivers on the printer CD.

Then go to your PC and install the printer from the server.

Hi, I have tried to install the Win98 drivers on the server but it comes back and says "Unable to install the Intel, windows 95 or 98 driver. Operation could not be completed"

Try installing the driver on the Win98 PC (using LPT1 as the port - do not print a test page). When that is finished, then install the printer from the server. It should tell you no suitable drivers are available, and to install it locally. When the list of printers comes up, you should be able to pick it and install it.
