SCSI Errors after a recovered image.

Hi.

I have a problem. Afer an image recover using DiskImage, I receive this error from the SCSI controller (AIC-7890 V. 2.20): "Drive on SCSI-xxxx (address) exceeded failre prediction threshold".

Several tests on the hard disk indicates that the hard disk has no read/write errors.

Some suggestions ?

What tests are you running to determine that the drive is OK?  That message is being generated by SMART and is passed onto the ScSI controller.  Is the disk an IBM drive?  If so, then it may very well be failing.  IBM had a ton of drives failing, especially ones made in Hungary.  Check the drive to see wehre it was manufactured.  If its an IBM drive, you can get the Hitachi/IBM Drive Fitness Test here:

Also try installing the IBM/Hitachi "SMARTDefender":

The HD is a MAXTOR.

The tests performed with the internal Adaptec's read test, SiSoft Sandra and HDDUtil.

It's strange that the errors appeared after the restored image.

Also I tried to monitor the HD with S.M.A.R.T Disk Monitor (By SANTools)and all the attributer are under specs.

Have you used Maxtor's diags?  They are tuned to their drives and may turn up something that the others (even Adaptec's) are missing.

Have you tried re-restoring the image again?

I tried with the Maxtor's diags (MAXTOR bought QUANTUM HD Division)...... it doesn't perform a real scandisk but only show the SMART status:

It's really strange..... the SMART seem really "damaged" but no others info about....

In this case, you probably want to contact Maxtor's RMA gropu with the above validation code and get them to send a replacement drive. See this page:
