printer sharing

hello, i have an xp desktop connected to a canon multipass f50 printer/fax/scanner etc..via a parallel cable and i want to share this with my laptop which is also xp....i have a router and both computers have internet access...i can't seem to get it to happen...any help would be appreciated...thank you

G'day, heyers3

You have several issues to fix in order to share your printer. First, enable Netbios over TCP/IP:
TCP/IP properties, Advanced button, WINS tab, choose "enable" vs "default"
Make sure both systems are in the same workgroup.
Enable Simple file sharing
Share the printer
Create identical username/password accounts on both PC's
