samdump and samdump2- Why different results?

The resulting hushes from samdump and samdump2 are different when analysing the SAM file on XP-Professional OS. Can someone explain why?

SAMDUMP2 can copy Windows NT/2k passwords from the registry even when they are protected with an additional encryption system (SYSKEY).

Samdump cannot except when used by the pwdump2 and 3 programs which use the samdump.dll
