writing scripts to change registry values in Win2000/XP

I need to write scripts which when executed enable registry changes like:

1.delete cached copies of roaming profiles.
2.add log off to start menu
etc

How do I go about this?

1. http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/142/
2. http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/517/

Script for 2:
Set WshShell = WScript.CreateObject( "WScript.Shell" )
WshShell.RegWrite "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\StartMenuLogoff", 1, "REG_DWORD"
