Image Upload HELP - Please!

Hello,

I am having a problem with uploading an image via flash and am hoping someone could lend their flash expertise. I posted a previous question simular but unfortunately was not able to come to the specific conclusion I am wanting (http://www.experts-exchange.com/Web/WebDevSoftware/Flash/Q_20542055.html). Please read below...

I am developing a TEXT to HTML text editor and would like to have the ability to upload images as well. I am able to 'browse' and locate files, however I cannot attatch them and have the path display on the dynamic input text.

What I would like to have happen is this.

1) Click on the 'image' icon.
2) Dialog box is displayed with a 'browse' button
3) User selects desired file.
4) File is presented in dynamic text area
5) User clicks 'Done' and the text is carried over into the 'Editor' screen with logical path (e.g. <img src="c:\document and settings...">).
6) User then can click the IE Preview icon and is carried to a html preview screen which shows what they are going to submit (displaying the image by using the path provided on step 5).

If anyone out there could assist me with this I would be most appreciative.

P.S. - I am attathing the files which I am using for reference in hopes someone can look at and tell me what I am missng.

Thank you in advance!

have you tried to look for this on www.flashkit.com?

here is a zip file of an example that has everything you are looking for...

I don't have the time right now to look through your files, but have a look at this zip file:

http://www.rascalpants.com/flash_fileupload.zip

it has a working example of what you want...

Thanks, but this didn't help...

Please see the attatched file so that it better illustrates and provides you with a visual of what I am wanting to accomplish.

Thanks.

The reason why it doesn't help is that the example is accomplished using frames which I do not wish to do.

what do you mean you don't want to use frames?

frames for what?

sukimasterAuthor Commented:
frames for the image upload.

That's how it was done in the example you provided
(http://www.rascalpants.com/flash_fileupload.zip)

you are not being clear...

are you saying that you don't want to have the browse on in one frame, and the submit/upload button in another?

if so, then just put then all in the same frame...  seems pretty remedial to me... not sure why you can't use the code I gave you?

sukimasterAuthor Commented:
As I said before, because it is using it in two frames. If it is that remedial to you, please send me the logic using one frame. Or even better -  take a look at my project and see how the code you provided can adapt into mine (since this was my initial problem. :)

thanks.

or, I can just do all of the work for you so you don't learn a single thing from this experience.  better yet, I can just take over your job and you can still get all of the money :)

for 250 points I think not

these boards are for learning and to help developers solve problems, not to have others do all of the work for them...

good luck with your application...

Like I said, I've been trying to get this to work for about a week now with no luck.

I thought that maybe an experienced flash developer would offer some assistance.

So what do you do? You send me a stupid link to SOMEONE ELSES file and say "Try this, I haven't looked at your file... but try this"...

WHY EVEN REPLY IF YOUR NOT GOING TO HELP!

RascalPants - your lame and probably know less about flash than me. Thanks for nothing.

my first reply WAS helpful, and gave you a working example of a Flash file uploader...  It pointed you in the right direction, but you still were lost.  Okay, so you don't want to use two frames... well then do it all in one.  Use your brain and piece the code together...

"Please see the attatched file so that it better illustrates and provides you with a visual of what I am wanting to accomplish."

I looked at your file, and determined that they were way too disorganized to try and interperate...  so I provided a link to a working file that I have given to users with the same problem.  They were all able to implement the same code theory for their projects... not sure why you can't?

The experts here can't do all of the work and that is not the intent of this forum anyway...

"RascalPants - your lame and probably know less about flash than me. Thanks for nothing."

use you're not "your" when telling me I am lame...

It is a good thing you upped the points to 500, because maybe someone will find it worth their while to help you...

good luck...

rp is a very experienced flash expert ...
he is very helpful too ... except when he is pissed. like now ... LOL ...

i haven't got time to really try very hard on it, but i kind of know what suki wants to do ... it is not easy ...

rascalpantsCommented:
I never said it would be easy, I just wanted him/her to try and figure some of this stuff out for him/herself...

I guess I am just used to professional developers who take it upon themselves and get the solution from examples...

a thankless service this is... and for free
