Modify-rights
If a W2K-user has Modify-rights to a file on a Windows 2000 server, can he delete the file then?
is it the same in Novell Netware, if a user has modify-rights to a file on a Netware-server, can he delete the file?

If you click Advanced on the Security tab you are given the option to give and take away as little or as much access to the shared file(s). If you check into the Advanced area then you can take away the delete option for the specific group or user account if need be.
Depending on what object you applying permissions to you will see the options for specifically the ability to delete or not. Sometimes they exist for the object and sometimes they don't. For example on share permissions they aren't as detailed as NTFS permissions are. However you fix this by tying down NTFS permissions and leaving the share with the least restrictive, this is Microsoft's recommendation anyway. The most restricive permission applys when comparing NTFS and Share permissions.
