GHOST experts out there?  I'm trying to create an automated script for installing an image automatically.  So that from a CD booting I can automate the menu selections with ghost to automatically drop the image on to a users PC.  The problem being that I have 100 PC's to configure.

Any advice on the ghost commands for automation gratefully received and it is urgent

Thanks ............ lots of Points available here

this isn't too hard.....

You may want to consider the multicast option - that is potentially much quicker method. But to do the boot disk ->

just make a bootable CD with Nero and run ghost at the command prompt like this:

ghost -clone,mode=load,src=D:\myimage.gho,dst=1 -sure

look here for more info: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ghost.nsf/docid/1998082413392025

NOTE that if you're cloning 2000 or XP you'll need to run ghstwalk to change the SID otherwise you'll have major security problems!

I think when i did this in the past, my system didnt support booting from CD, so i booted from a winME restore floppy that loaded the CD drivers autmatically. Then i executed the command above.

You may want to set up a ghostcast sever, it will allow you to remotely install the client software and automate the ghosting process.

Floppy Disk contents:
\dev folder 'include the cd-drive .sys files
'================================================'
Test the floppy disk prior to final setup.
Upon completion of the floppy disk, start either 'NERO' or EZ-CDCreator, and verify that the BOOT CD is selected as an option. Insert the bootable floppy, when prompted and finish he burn. If you have multiple cd's just make only the first cd btable the rest copy the .gh? files . The same applies for DVD creation, but use NERO instead. It worths the $60.00 investment.
Also verify that you are using SYSPREP ( from Microsoft) or else you coul dhave duplicate sids if you have teh computer on the network
