applet load failure

My (Lotus Notes) web mail client was working before
installing JRE 1.4.1 for IE 6.0.  Now whenever I go into
my web mail client I get an X where the toolbar used to be
with a message of 'Applet dominoActionBar notinited' and
then 'Load Java Applet Failed...'.  Is there a setting somewhere
that I need to make to rid this problem?  Thanks for the help.

Goto the Java plugin control panel, and in the Browsers tab uncheck the Microsoft IE checkbox.

Either fix the problem with the web mail client , or change the html in the other applets to use the <object> tag instead of the <applet> tag.

Tried using the <object> tag but with same results.  I noticed that an applet from a vendor uses the <applet> tag and it's loading/working fine even with the IE option checked in the Browser tab of the plug-in.

correction:

>>I noticed that an applet from a vendor uses the <applet> tag and it's loading/working fine even with the IE option checked in the Browser tab of the plug-in.

Should be:

An applet from a vendor uses the <applet> tag and it's loading/working fine even with the IE option NOT checked in the Browser tab of the plug-in.

Is that class available to the applet?
Does the class use Java2 features?

Does the class use Java2 features?
No, just compiled with it.

Mayankeagle:

Checked out your link, not quite the problem I am having.  My applet doesn't even load unless I check the IE option in Browser tab of plug-in.  But doing this causes the menu bar of my web mail client to have prob. loading.  What can I do to make them (my applets and web mail menubar) work.

We have a couple of applets from vendors that's working fine, even with the IE option unchecked, so it may be something in the code?

Did you check if the applet uses any Java2 features? If so it will require the plugin to run.

The applet doesn't use any Java 2 features, it's an old test applet that I have from a couple years back.  It looks to be a problem with the compiler, because before I recompiled with JDK 1.4.1 it was loading fine.  I'll recompile with 1.3 to verify.

Appreciate your help Objects on both threads, I will try
and respond soon.  Have a good weekend (if it isn't already a weekend where you're at).
