how to copy files across network.....

I am developing a backup application. I need to copy files across network.
I tried using SHFileOperation. It doesn't work. It gives "bad user or password"
messagebox.

My comment is general but terminology is MS.
First you need to make sure that the program can access the target directories. the easiest way to do it is grant the application network rights, e.g. by using a user from the  the admins account or better the backup-operators group - yes there is such group.
You can alternately create all the target directories as shared directories thus any user running the program will be able to read/write the files.
It depends on you needs and desires.

If you need to access user directories for backup better create a backup-operator user account on the server and run the program using that account.

I want to know which API to use for doing copy operation across network. How to specify the user name and password for accessing other computers?
