USB Printer Sharing on IMacs

We have some Imacs and HP895 printers attached with USB.  We have enabled USB printer sharing on them.  Unfortunately, when I go to another Mac and attach to one of those shared printers (using the Chooser over the network), I can see a HP895 printer, but have no idea which one I'm attaching to!!!  Is there a way, when I share that printer, that I can give it a unique name???  Sometimes we think we've attached properly, but when we print, it goes out to someone else's printer!

Any ideas?

First things first. If your computers will support it, update to 9.2.2 or 9.2.1 (whichever your computer will do). There's no reason not to and the updates are free.

Now, as for changing the name, some printer software will let you do it, others wont. Generally inkjet non-postscript printers wont let you. Especially if theyre not built with networking capability. They figure itll only be used on one machine so naming it isnt an issue. If your particular software doesnt allow for renaming, you're probably out of luck.

Hows that? Nothing to do with Mac, purely an epson driver issue.
