Best E-mail blast program to use.

Hi Everyone,

I recently purchased Ocean11 Mailing Manager Pro and sent out a blast to my companies 500 customers.  The result clogged the server and our mailserver went down.  I had tested it and sent out a test blast to our marketing group and we recieved it.  My question is does anyone have any recommendations on some email blast programs that are low-cost, support multiples lists, and can send HTML emails?

Thanks,
Natacha

Before replacing Ocean11 Mailing Manager, have you checked the batch size that you are using.  If you want to say send a few thousand emails, you should get it to send a few at a time with a pause between each batch.

In view of the problems you had when you sent out 500, I suggest a very small batch size ( eg 10 ) with 1 min pause between batches.  This way you can send all the emails with the hour and you can always adjust those figures later.  Also, choose an off-peak time to do your sending.

Finally, are you sure that the emails were fully well-formed?  Were they correctly configured for HTML?  Did you have graphical images to send?  What was the total package size per email including any images and other attachments.

We are using a free solution that is run on Linux 7.0 called ezmlm. It runs from the command line in Linux and can handle 100,000 addresses or more. It can also handle many separate lists and highly configurable with moderators, batch email address additions and much more.

using a dedicated server with qmail running it can send out about 25,000 emails in about 1-1/2 hours

check out http://ezmlm.org/
