hey all,

I bought a new PC with windows OS. The thing is I have to connect this system with the other PCs using LAN network. So, could anybody teach me step by step so that I can configure my system and make it work.
I don't know anything about networking. This would be the greatest help.  I want to learn myself how to setup the PC under network.  How do I obtain the IP address of my System......and it is necessary that I should give ip address so that i should work perfectly under network.  Pls guide me all these.  I'm eager to learn......Thanks in advance

First of all talk to your network administrator. I'd be pretty miffed if someone just started hooking up nodes in "my" network, most certainly so if they weren't totally clear on how to do it. Perhaps she/he can help you and tell you what the steps are.
