Outlook Express 5 + Multiple Hotmail Accounts

I'm running OE5 on Win98SE, and I had several Hotmail accounts running on one Identity.  I changed to a new ISP, and all of a sudden OE will only download messages from the first account (not in any order I could choose, I notice), then get stuck downloading from the next one.  I found a quasi-fix by setting up each new account under a new Identity, but can someone tell me why this might cause the download to hang?  Is it more likely to be a problem with OE, Hotmail's or my ISP's servers?

It is most likely your ISP, since that is the one change that you made that cause the problem. You may want to call your ISP, but the techs may not know what to do.

Maybe the new ISP has longer delays in downloading mail and OE times out before it completes the download. The default time is 1 minute. From OE, select Tools > Accounts. Double click on your ISP. Select Advanced. In the middle page is Server Timeout. Adjust the slider to something longer than 1 minute.

Sorry war1, opening the link to this question didn't work because I didn't know how to break out the stupid hotmail frames.

I contacted the ISP and they didn't know what to do - they just said click the Synchronise All button.

I haven't had a chance to try out your solution because I'm asking on behalf of someone who's not tech-literate (not that I am either), and I haven't had a chance to see them to get on their machine.  I have forwarded your solution to them and asked them to try, but they haven't gotten back to me yet.  I will let you know if it works when I see the next, probably in a week's time or so.

Cheers
