Hi All,

I followed every steps from Cisco's Documentation online(http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/793/access_dial/comm_server.html.  But, when I trying to connect other router, it freezes when it trying for other router. It showed (Trying r1 1.1.1.1, 2001)...Open, then it stops. Anybody has any idea?  Thanks.

how are you connecting the async ports of the 2511 to the routers/servers in question?

Do you have the rj-45 variety or the octal-cable type?

Make sure you've got the flat rollover cables if you've got the rj45 type. straight through connections if you're using the octal-cable type.

i guess the other test is if you can telnet to that 2511 at all(i.e. to the vty), not just the async ports.

And paste results of "show line"

Assuming that you are connected to the console port of this router, you might need to add this:
line 1-8
 no exec

How are you getting a subnet mask on these entries:
ip host r1 2001 1.1.1.1 255.0.0.0
ip host r2 2002 1.1.1.1 255.0.0.0
ip host r3 2003 1.1.1.1 255.0.0.0

I would expect:
ip host r1 2001 1.1.1.1
ip host r2 2002 1.1.1.1
ip host r3 2003 1.1.1.1

router#r1 [cr]

Still would like to see output of "show line"

You might also need to add:
line 1-8
 speed 9600
 flowcontrol none

Hi,
Thanks.  Yes, I connected to the console port of this router. That just an error I made when I tried to copy and paste.  It just some weird thing when I use HyperTerminal that is if use any of the cursor keys I don't get prev command etc. - I get '^@' and carriage return three times. And I can't even get the ctrl-shift-6, X work too.  Anyway, sorry being off the topic.

Try using control-p instead of up arrow. Do you have your Hyperterm set to -no- flowcontrol vs hardware?
Using XP?
