HELP! Can't Recover my Sony Vaio with disks!

I am lost!!  I can't seem to recover my Sony Vaio PCG-FX 390P notebook with the recovery disks.  I have been to the Sony site (sucks) no help there! My issue started with a Trojan Horse soooooo I pulled everything I wanted off the hard drive and proceeded to use the recovery disks provided by Sony AND the first 3 system disks seem to work OK then it asked for the App recovery disks so far so good then it wanted a microsoft word 2002 CD (which Sony did not provide) I tried just canceling that and proceeding but it locks up! HELP!!!!! I don't know what to do........Tx, dpowell1999

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

*NOTE* Make sure you scan everything you pulled off of the hard drive with a clean virus scan to make sure you don't load a virus back onto your laptop.

When you run the recovery CD(s) there is normally an option for a complete install or a custom (selective) install.

See if there is a selective install option and if so then tell the install to not install word 2002.  That should get you back up and running.

If there is not option availabe for a selective install let us know and we will see where we can go from there.

Good Luck,
Mike
