Outlook CPU Spiking to 100%

Using Office 2000 with all SP installed on an XP, and with only Outlook directly started from desktop ... it sits there idle for about 60 seconds and then freezes the system as CPU spikes at 100%.

I keep task manager on to kill the process.  It always happens.  I have removed it and reinstalled it.

I have read many postings about outlook cpu spiking and none of the sugegsted solutions fit my situation.

Hoping for a suggested fix.  Thank you.

This does not work.  Thank you though ... I uninstalled Office, reinstalled from CD ... installed the SR1, SR3, and 12/18 SR3 update.  The situation persists.

Any other thoughts?

Thank you.
