Shift keys in OS-8.6 creates odd symbols when I use the shift key to capitalize a letter.
It does still capitalize the letter, only it prefaces the letter every time with either a "+" sign or a "[" sign.
Plugged the keyboard into another computer? Same result? Booted without extensions?

Hi Weed,
Thanks for the input. Yes, I tried it with extensions off. I also trashed the keyboard preferences. However I don't know anyone locally with an old Mac where I could test the keyboard itself.
I played with various Languages and it changed what the symbols wereon the shift key. I would then trash the keyboard preferences again but it ultimately went back to the way it was. IOW, the original symbols in the English language remain the same.

You are set to English with Roman script right?
ASKER
Yes, English with the Roman. I am working on a Performa 6320 "Road Apple". It belongs to my niece. I had done a complete install of OS-8.5 plus the upgrade to OS-8.6. I had initialized the 1.2gig drive.
Originally it had OS-7.5.5 and the keyboard was fine.
Thanks for the input.

Thanks Weed. What I'll do is consider re-installing 7.5.5 again and seeing what the keyboard does. Then I'll re-install the whole thing all over again. I did use Disk Doctor and all was well.??? I will try Disk Warrior too. Appreciate the help.
