Read Hard Disk Serial Number

How can i read Hard Disk Serial Number (Not Partition Serial), I have tried the GetVolumeInformation function but this one returns the partition serial.
i need to know if there is any way to read the Hard Disk Serial number.

If you mean the manufacturer's serial number, it is printed on the outside of the drive - I don't think there is programming way to access it.

Normally, when people refer to the hard disk serial number, they are talking about the partition serial number, which is assigned when the drive is formatted (if you reformat, the number will change...)

They said they didn't want the one returned by GetVolumeInformation - which is what the answer you posted returns...
