nvidia Riva TNT card to TV OUT

Hi

Recently my monitor is not powering on so I am trying to use my TV to work with.
The DELL desktop I bought from a friend has a nVidia  Riva TNT card.
When I try connecting my video card's TV out to TV
I think I get VIBGYOR colors. I used the yellow cable,
the video-out(I do not have SVideo on my TV)
When I checked the settings by connecting to another
PC monitor I found that in the display properties
there is no option to set the display to TV.
Is this required.
I am not sure what is missing to display on the TV.
Is it the drivers.

System:

Pentium 4(~450Mhz)
128MB RAM
windows XP Pro
nVidia RIVA TNT video card

Thanks

hmm, I'm not sure what the "VIBGYOR colors" are, but I do know that an old TNT card I had with S-video out would only show black and white with the yellow addapter cable.  The way S-video works is they strip out the color and balck/white signal (chrominance and luminence; Y/C) to sperate wires to improve the signal, by doing that it helps to cancel out some noise as well as deliver more resolution.  I told you that to tell you this, some addapter cables will just strip out the B/W signal and give you that which just gives you a B/W signal to deal with.  Some better cards will correct for this within the card and output a color signal to the luminance wires, but some won't.

Another thing to check is that the TV output might not work well (or work at all) at higher resolutions, some will sample down from 800X600 well, but others may only work at 640X480.

thanks matguy..
I expected to see the same output as the pc monitor but instead I get bars of colors(Violet, Indigo, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange, Red)...
I will try lowering the resolution and connecting it to TV ...but do I need to do some display setting as well..

I think you need a converter to transfer from S-vid to composite in order to do this sort of thing ... sorry can't help more than that.
