Dear Experts

This is an unusuall problem which I never ever faced before. I have windows 2000 member Server, has two similar 18GB Hard disks. I have prepared one hard disk install windows 2000 and SQL 2000 and other applications then add another hard disk for fault tolerance. when I go to Disk Management In computer Managemnet and try to make a mirror set by right click the main hard disk, I was surprised because there was no mirroring option in the list. I did the same on another server and it worked there perfectly. I dont understand why it is not showing the mirror option/icon. Could any bosy help me to resolve the above issue. (Hard has three partitions TWO PRIMARY and One Logical).

Looking forward to your cooporation.

Have you checked that the drive you are trying to mirror is a dynamic disk and not a basic disk ?

In 2000 you must upgrade the disk to be a dynamic disk before you have the option to add a mirror.

To do this right click on the drive and select upgrade to dynamic disk.

Dear Mshattock
I have checked the technet and windows 2000 books, mirroring will be done in both basic as well as in dynamic hard disk. Only the difference is that you can not access the dynamic hard disk from MS dos.
Any ways I will try your idea.
