Are there other ways of navigating through recordsets using adodata controls other than clicking the 4 buttons on the control

I have a system which records the actions of soccer players on a field by the user clicking a commmand button next to the event name (numbers recorded in txt boxes). When another player gets the ball the user then has to navigate through the recordset using the ado data control (linked to a database) to find the player that now has the ball. This is not really what i want as the effort on the users front is quite large.
Are there other ways in which the user can, say, press a key (say the number 7 for player 7) and the details of player 7 will come up? Or other ways of bringing up details of a player who currently has the ball?

Bearing in mind im not the worlds greatest programmer! And its got to be finished in the next few days.....

Any help much appreciated....thanx

A very simple way: add a databound grid to your application (I assume you use VB). The databound grid control will use the ADO recordset control that contains the list of soccer players. This way you'll be able to see the list of all players automatically. You can then click on the name of the player you wish to update and then click on the button that represents the action. Since you are using the grid, the selected player will be still selected after clicking the button, and the user will not need to search for the player again.

This is a very easy thing to do..even someone who is not the world greatest programmer will be able to do it in less than a day :).
