Why or How Folders become invisible

occcasionally folders disappear and become invisible, does anyone know why or how this happens.  It can be a folder that a user has saved to the desktop, etc.  I have heard of even a Harddrive dissapearing and becoming invisible...  This is happening in OS 8 and 9.

There is a flag that makes folders, files etc invisible. It could happen without someone setting it because you have b-tree problems. Run Norton Disk Doctor or Drive 10.

I'd say go to:

to download ResEdit, which is a handy little tool that you can use to edit resource forks and also make files and folders invisible or visible (most of the time).

This is also handy for when you are on your parents computer and they don't want you downloading mp3s.

Just have an Apple Script designed somewhere (stashed away deep in a folder) and have it automatically open ResEdit and hide/unhide all of your folders that have your mp3s in them.  Very handy.

Hope something in there helps.
