i cant find it in reference.
if there was none, i was thinking of
isCustomFunction()

There's no Isaplha function in CF but you can use regular expressions to check this fairly easily.
<cfif REFind("[^A-Za-z0-9]",mystring,1) gt 0>
 This string contains characters that are not alphanumeric.
<cfelse>
 This string contains only alphanumeric characters.
</cfif>
