Windows XP NTLDR problem and no CD drive!

My CD drive has broke but I managed to copy the Windows XP CD to a partition on the hard drive. Windows XP died on me, whenever I boot it says remove the disk but there is no disk in the drive! or it says that there is an ntldr problem also. I need to format and re install XP but I cannot figure out how to tell the recovery console to boot from drive E: instead of the CD drive. Without buying a new CD drive which I cannot afford.

Does any one have a solution for this problem?
Cheers

try this:
go into the BIOS setup (press F1 or F2 when the computer is starting up) and make the primary boot device drive E...if you have Windows XP copied exactly as it was on the CD and didn't put it in its own folder, this may work.

if you have a floppy drive, try to obtain windows XP boot disks and use them for booting up...then you can change to E: drive and run setup from there...

hope this helps ;)

The CD is mapped exactly to drive E: but the bios will not let a drive letter be assigned.
setup cannot be run from within the recovery console!

You can obtain the bootdisk at www.bootdisk.com.

also:  try taking out the floppy drive temporarily;  if it boots in the absence of your floppy drive, your drive state indicator is probably shot or in need of cleaning (It thinks there is a floppy in the drive)  Since your CD is dead, this is not out of the question.
