how to search attachments in Outlook Express - Find Message feature won't do it

I have an outlook express folder with 2 years of e-mails.

If I know I sent someone a message saying "angel food cake is great" I use the Find tool and outlook looks in all of the e-mail messages.

Unfortantely, about 30% of our e-mail messages simply say "Please review the attached Word 2000 and Excel documents".  Outlook Express and Outlook both seem to ignore the attachments when Finding e-mails.

Does anybody know of any utilities I can buy? (free would be even better.)

It would appear that this can't be done, even with an add-in program.

I'm willing to live with cumbersome solutions.

For instance, I've tried draggin the outlook express messages into a desktop folder, then using Windows Find File to do the search.  It didn't work, but it demonstrates the kind of "outside the box" thinking i've tried.

Speaking of dragging into folder, I remember one occasion when I dragged a single e-mail message into an empty folder.  Afterward, I was surpised to see THREE files in the folder, one with the e-mail header/message body, and TWO other files -- they were the .doc and .xls attachments from the e-mail message.  I can't remember what I did, and I can't seem to get it to happen again.

If I can do this "un-attachment", it would lead to a cumbersome find file solution. I'm likely to give points if someone can tell me how to control this "un-attachment" process.  (Naturally, if I get 3 solutions, the best solution wins.)

P.S. I'm new to EE. If 3 people give me partial solutions that add up to a complete solution, can I split the points?  The HELP topic "How do I earn and use question points" doesn't mention it.  Is there another FAQ page for newbe type questions?
You can request a split in Community Service.
I just dragges the attachment itself to a folder.  When I dragged the message it saved all in one.  I don't see a way to do this en masse.
To slink9:

I feel this thread is only worth 50 points and I hope you agree.  Through no fault of yours, the question had very little discussion, and was never answered. I have sent you 50 points and have scheduled this for deletion in 72 hours.

If you do not take action, it will be gone.

Thanks for trying, I appreciate your help.
It was answered.  The answer was that you can't do it.  No biggee, though.  50 points is fine.

A request for deletion has been made.  If no response or you feel this is in error, comment.  If no objection, I will delete in three days.

After the deletion, the questioner would like to award slink9 for effort

In the meantime, I still thing this question should be deleted.  slink9 has already been award 250 for his effort (separate "points for slink9"), so there is no need to keep this question around.
