howto write to streamer DAT tape

hi guys,
anybody knows a good component or code sample wich enables me to write data to a 4GB(uncompressed) DAT?

Depending on the os you are running under this can be trivial or quite difficult.  Kylix on Linux would be the trivial one. W2K Server would be an example of a difficult one.  You should  probably be more specific about what you are trying to do.  As far as components go you can take a look at www.cooldev.com.  They have an extensive package for scsi storage devices.  This could easily be overkill for what you are trying to do, but you may want to look at it.

first of all thx for your quick answer...
i am running win2k os and i forgot to add earlier: the components or code should be freeware...
i am not satisfied with the functionality of the common backub apps as veritas or win2kserver standard backup(those two are nearly the same anyway). so i would like to write my own backup app in delphi, that can write and read from my old 4mm dss tape...
