ISA Modem
I bought ISA modems for two computers & was told by Aleinss to put them in a ISA slot which are black. They will fit in the PCI slot but I should put them in the ISA slot which I have only one & it has a network card in that. This sounds silly now because I really don't need the network card so I should just take it out & repace with my new modems. I bought ISA modems because the computers are only 350MHz & I want the modems not to draw off my CPU. Anyhow, I guess I just want comfirmation that I am doing the right thing. Thanks to whoever will have pity on me & answer my question.

Thanks war1. Just wanted a confirmation that I was putting it in the right place. The ISA slot looks the size of the PCI slot except it is black. If this is correct then I'll let you go!

Oh no, that network card is on AGP port. I have 2 ISA slots & they are longer than the PCI slot. I would say almost twice the size. They are black & my modem doesn't seem to fit & it doesn't line up with the openings in the back of the computer. The slot is too large but it sure fits PCI slot.
lia1160,
You may be able to use the Network card in the future. Most Network card are not ISA. It will probably work in a PCI slot.

Lila,
Here is a link to some pictures of ISA slot and ISA modem. Does your modem look more like ISA or PCI modem pictured?

I bought a Diamond V.90 56k ISA modem from ebay in fact I bought 2. The Robotics ISA modem fit the ISA slot but the Diamond looks more like it's for a PCI slot. Where's the link?

I know what a ISA slot is & I forgot to tell you I am putting modems into two separate computers.

Maybe the Diamond is a PCI modem? ISA modem has a speaker on it per the pictures.
ASKER
It looks like the last modem but I don't see a speaker & it looks longer. Could I send you a picture by email?

Lila, glad to have the modem working. war1
Yes, if you not using the Network card, remove it and put in the ISA modem
