Newbie question- How to control frames of external movies?

i am sure this is an easy question for you gurus.

i just learned  how to use the loadmovienum command and was able to import external .swf file into my base file. my question is what is the proper way to control the external movie in my base? for instance, i would like to click a button in the base file and make the external movie move from frame 1 to frame 2 and so on.

please help me out. thanks in advance.

Hi,

   How did you load the external movie? Did you load it in to a movie clip or a level for example? Either way you should be able to reference by using the movieclip name or level that you loaded it in to. for example of you loaded it in to _level1 and you wanted it to go to frame 5 then you could use

_level1.gotoAndPlay(5);

   It's off of the top of my head but it should work.
