Hi!

We are planning to develop an application to broadcast live events (music shows, awards, etc.) but we have a problem: the internet connection.

As we need an internet connection to upload the video stream to the server, what would be the best solution? Wireless LAN to an already internet connected computer? Setting up a ISDN/Cable connection wherever the event takes place? Satellite?

If any has already done this or have a suggestion, you're welcome! :)

Thanks in advance!!

Video streams use alot of bandwidth (amount depending on the quality and compression).  That said, your best bet is probably to stay with as fast of a connection as possible.  Cable/DSL/ISDN with fast upstream would possibly be suitable.  If its a massive video stream, then you might be lookin along the lines of Frame Relay.

If the events take place in different venues, then 2 way satellite might be your best bet..considering its speed.  However, satellite has a lot of latency issues considering how far the data has to travel.

Hope it helps.

You will also need to take some other "details" in consideration, if you want to broadcast (and not unicast like your are discribing) you will need to suscribe services from companies like akamai.net.

broadcast = many people connected to the same stream
 (less bandwith, more comfortable)

unicast = one stream per user (so users x bandwth = ouuuch)

I succeded to unicast my webcam streaming :))

Good luck
