Need help to recover folders I believe may be lost converting from Outlook 97 to Outlook 2000
I am working on Windows NT 4 and upgraded from Outlook 97 to Outlook 2000 professional. Two problems came out of this upgrade. They are as follows:
1. The upgrade went well until the computer restarted and the upgrade program hung upon completion. I was forced to 'end task' and now when I try to delete or install Office 2000 it hangs at that point even after restarting the computer.
2. I had 5 contact folders in Outlook 97 that do not appear when I run Outlook 2000. I have saved a copy of the outlook.pst file prior to the conversion.

Unfortunately, I only have the Office 2000 available. I found out how to recover my other folders. This was not intuitive in any way and Microsoft should have their wrists slapped for the way they handle it. Anyway, I am still unable to remove nor install Office 2000 without it hanging. If I am going to edit the registry I will need some very specific instructions as it scares the hell out of me.
Thanks,

I once had problems and did a Start-Run-REGEDIT and removed every reference to Office and then was able to reinstall and get things working again. That should be a last resort and you should back up your registry before trying that.
