What is double-sided x16 DDR DIMMs
Posted on 2003-03-24
I just bought ASUS P4G8X Deluxe motherboard. In the motherboard's manaul, it says " Double-sided x16 DDR DIMMs are not supported by this motherboard. " Dose that mean I can not use DDR memory with 16 chips on both side of stick?
Actually, I am confused by " x16 ". Many people have different interpretation about " Double-sided x16 DDR DIMMs ".
ASUS P4G8X uses Intel E7205 chipset, which supports dual-channel DDR memory. I have bought two 512M (64x64) PC2100 DDR memory, which have 8 chips on each side( total 16 chips on one memory ), but I don't know if they are supported by my motherboard or not? Will it be demaged if I just try install those memory if they are actually not supported?
Please give me some help! Thank you very much in advance!
