formatting hard drive running windows 2000

Can anyone please run me thru a hard drive format (searched google without success) on windows 2000. I've tried making a boot disk using four disks and booting from there but a) failed to change to C drive and b)format command not recognised.

simple question I know but i've exhausted all possibilities

thankyou

Would you like to format from dos command prompt, c: partition? If so, you have to have Win98/Me bootdisk, because Win 2K doesn't offer creating boot disk and run command line.

Have you got Windows 2000 CD? If so just put it into cd- drive and boot your machine from CD. Rest should be self-explanatory

In case of any problem just pop a question.
