Is it neccessary to install GSM Modem Driver ?

Hello Experts,

I wanted to know that "Is it neccessary to install the GSM Modem Driver, When I need to check the phone is connected or not using HYPER TERMINAL ?"

I got Nokia 6210 that is easily detected through the NOKia SDK, But when I try to give command AT hyper terminal, It does not respond displaying some error had occured.

Then Someone told me to install the 6210 modem drivers, I downloaded drivers from nokia, then tried to install but during installation there is auto detection before installation, but phone is not detected.

I use DLR 3P cable to connect phone to the mobile

Please try to figure out where problem resides ?

nokia 6210 does not have any hardware modem inside. so, if you want to use it as a modem you must install the software modem (PC resident) provided with the Nokia PC suite. use an IrDA connection/detection of the phone (of course you will have to intsall IrDA support on the PC). The PC should detect "Nokia 6100 family phone" (strange but true) and after that you will be able to install the software modem (an infrared one). Use HyperTerminal (e.g.) to establish the connection with the Infrared Modem and it should work fine.
If you are using the DLR 3P cable instead, try to intsall a Standard 9600 modem and try to connect with that (it works, at least for Siemens S25-35).
remember that nokia phones (6210 for example) have no modem inside.
