IE6 problem

Hi,

Does anyone know if there is a problem with Internet Explorer 6 when using it with Windows98?  After downloading and installing IE6 everything seemed to go wrong.  I had problems with my aspi layer, my whole system seemed to run a lot slower, and just recently Windows would not boot up on start up.  I had various messages such as "not enough memory", and something about "V8FAT".  I had to turn my pc on and off about 8 times before windows would finally load up.  I have now converted back to IE 5.5, and all my problems have stopped.

Generally speaking Win98 and IE 6 get along ok. You may have had a install go bad. This happens sometimes.

What are the specs on this machine. Like what is the CPU type and speed. The amount of RAM etc. What size is the Swap file set at?

Ok, I am not exactly using the best pc in the world, but still, from problems I have read on here about using IE6 with Windows98, I still feel there is a problem when using these two things together.  Perhaps it was a bad installation, but I'm not taking that chance.  I am very happy to carry on using IE5.5 for the time being.  Out of interest though, what else could cause Windows to fail to load up, on account of lack of memory?  I had put no new programs or software on my pc prior to Windows not loading up.

A lot of things. Bad or corruped drivers, system or startup program files, corrupted registry etc.
