I have IIS installed on my workstation and am trying to run an ASP page.

I open IE 6 and type the following URL:

http://localhost/login.asp

When I press ENTER it is displaying the text of the actual ASP page instead of returning just the HTML.

What am I doing wrong?

These samples are placed here for your reference.
Each one will give you sample output, the .asp source file,
and the .htm file that is generated when a user runs the .asp
script. This code is strictly for the sake of illustration.
Most of it includes little to no error handling and we therefore
cannot be held responsible for anything it may do when run on
your server.

Having said that, we will not intentionally place any malicious
code here and will try and warn you of anything a script may do
which might be unexpected (ie. writing to the server's hard drive).
Still, if you do encounter any errors or side effects when attempting
to run any of our code, please let us know and we'll do our best to
assist you in getting it to run correctly and update our example
with the appropriate fix and/or warning.

For those of you who keep asking if you can use the code
read this.

How do you "comment" a line in ASP (so it won't get processed)

the problem was
when you use a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get - for example Microsoft Frontpage) if you type type < it will add the code as "<" so you have to copy - paste your code to html source section not to normal part.

all the problem was caused because of < > tags
if you check your first post and compare < > 's you will understand what i mean..

also if you want to make a comment
lets say

<% dim something, pasha, knowlton
knowlton = request.form("name") ' this is how you make comment
%>

if you put a ' after the line you can make comments
